People we meet

As I think about the days gone by
I start to wonder
Where I was then and where I am now..
Was I happy or sad, or more morose than glad?
Then it comes to me like a bolt from the blue
I’ve been fortunate and I’m blessed

The people I’ve come across
Have all touched my life, I must confess
They’ve brought laughter and love
And so much more
If I were to make a list
Words would simply not suffice

Some of our paths have crossed but briefly
And some of them for a while longer
Each of them had a part to play
In me becoming the person I am today
And in the process, lessening my strife

I can’t help but wonder
If all these meetings were pre-ordained
A part of God’s master plan
That we’re all intertwined by fate
The world in all its chaos and turmoil
Seems less troubling with such people around
Makes me believe and realize
That there’s always something more than meets the eye
And I move on, more happy and less pained
